A Gold Coast not-for-profit helping youth offenders turn their lives around will receive $4 million in funding over four years from the Queensland Labor government if re-elected next month.
Disengaged young people come to the 10-week Everything Suarve program from homes filled with violence, drugs and alcohol abuse, sometimes fresh out of juvenile detention.
More than 90 per cent of the program's graduates have found employment or gone back to school and 79 per cent had stopped offending in the 12 months since they graduated.
