South Africa rejected CA’s last-ditch play to save Test tour

The three-Test tour between Australia and the Proteas fell through at the eleventh hour after Cricket South Africa rejected a formal proposal to play the series away from home.

Cricket Australia tabled a last-ditch proposal to host the series in March after receiving ‘overwhelming’ medical advice against having its players and staff tour South Africa.

That offer was flatly rejected, CA interim boss Nick Hockley told reporters on Wednesday.
